Flow
Turning your journey into a video
The path you traveled becomes a short film
"My Journey" — the places you visited, linked in the order you went — is more than a map to look at. One day or many, that path can become a video you keep or share.
Where to start
- 1Tap the My Journey map at the bottom of Flow to open it full screen
- 2Tap Play My Journey at the top right
- 3On the playback screen, tap Create Video at the top right
Tapping Play My Journey doesn't start it right away. It opens the playback screen, and pressing ▶ at the bottom sets the journey in motion.
If you visited only one place that day, there is no line to draw, so the play button stays off.
What you see is what you get
The video is the same picture as the playback screen. The title, the path traveled, the photos flowing along the bottom — all just as you saw them.
So play it through once first and create the video when you like what you see. Changing an option shows up in the playback right away, so you are previewing the result.
What you can change
Open Options at the bottom of the playback screen.
- 1Title. The first line. "My Journey" by default
- 2Period. Not one day only — you can string several days together
- 3Display. Turn Route, Visited Places, Photos, and Title and Date on or off. Choose Standard or Satellite for the map
- 4Playback Time. Automatic, or from 10 to 60 seconds. Automatic follows how many places you visited
- 5Map Zoom. Whether the map sits close in or takes in the whole route
- 6Fixed Zoom. When on, the map holds one size and simply follows along
While it is being made
It takes time. The longer the period you chose, the longer it takes. A single day is quick, but stringing many days together can keep you waiting a while.
Keep the app open while you wait. Switching to another app stops it partway. The app keeps the screen from turning off on its own, but locking with the power button can make it fail.
To stop, tap X at the top left.
When it is done
- 1Save. It goes straight into the Photos app. Once saved, the button turns into
Saved - 2Share. Send it to Instagram, Messages, and so on
Good to know
- A title you edited lives only in this playback. Open it again and it returns to "My Journey" - Photos come from your device. Ones that live only in iCloud may look a little soft - You can string together up to one year at a time
Create Video and choosing a period are available after purchase. During your free access period you can make as many as you like.
